I feel like people forget the whole “high end technical marvel” that these vehicles stand for means that, back in the day when automatics were garbage, it made sense for a sports car to have a manual. Now automatics are better than manuals (and people don’t buy manuals, as much as they say they will), so yeah, it makes sense for a sports car to come with an auto and let the automaker save on R&D for something people won’t buy.

But also, car enthusiasts are insufferable when it comes to new cars. Myself included.

I’m pretty sure the MkIV Supra was basically free ($1,500 MSRP) and had 1,000 HP from the factory and weighed 2,300 lb . Manual only, too.

To be honest I learned about the legend of the Supra only after like the 2nd F&F movie came out. I have no emotional connection to that one, or this new one for that matter.

Haha. M an, 2Fast is my favorite! I appreciate the Supra. Like a lot of other cars that I don’t like, I understand and am down with the part they play in the big picture.

I envy the people who can look past a car’ s looks in the name of driving because I love to drive. However I must have pretty cars, I have to at least want to look at it before I get behind the wheel.

My only complaint is it doesn't have a big hoop wing on it. I'm guessing they're saving that for the GRMN version.

For me, huge part of old Supra was Japanese reliability. Not it’s a German car from a company known to use plastic gears in important engine parts. And I really, really care about the no manual part.

So, my excitement level about the new Supra is about 5 out of 100.
